Children's Counselling in Exeter and Online
Sometimes children struggle with their mental health and emotional wellbeing – as a parent it can be really difficult to navigate this. Childhood can be a challenging time with various potential struggles including attachment issues, anxiety, low mood, sexuality, gender identity, mental health issues, intrusive thoughts, bullying and friendships issues to name but a few. Neurodiversity can also have a major impact on the thoughts, feelings, moods and behaviour of children.
Often your child can’t communicate why they feel the way they do, and therapy can help to unpick this. I use a variety methods including; conversation, playful and creative techniques, ‘Drawing and Talking Therapy’, button therapy, Russian doll therapy and CBT exercises. This aims to support them in building resilience, be able to manage emotions and develop helpful coping strategies.
*In addition to working in schools and colleges for over 15 years, I also worked for an online platform providing Person Centred Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Children and Young People, and am an Accredited Children and Young People's Therapist on the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society's register.
